a mouse that waits

on a rainy may afternoon,
he awaits that all important call
that might decide his next stage of life.

patiently he was told to wait,
however torturous this would sound.
he waits, and he waits.

waiting is a game that
takes the sanity away from one
yet one indulges.

the rain continues to fall,
