the beauty of lies on the structure. It took emsamble studio a year to engineer but only seven days to build the structure. this project is seriously taking prefabrication to another new level.
i am seriously liking this shoot by annie leibovitz. drawing inspiration from alice in the wonderland + collaborating with all the top designers in the world! john galliano, viktor and rolf and jean paul and etc each designed a piece for the shoot and pose as characters from the cartoon!
john galliano as the queen viktor and rolf as tweedledum & tweedledee jean paul as the cheshire cat
this is how karl lagerfeld would look like if he is a bear! saw this stunning steiff karl's bear in millennium walk. priced at SGD $2540 and only 2 pieces available in singapore, 2000 pieces worldwide. wonder if it comes with karl's accent?
happen to be in plaza sing over the weekend and to my surprise i found these three bearbrick specially created by medicom for actioncity bear bear at only 10 bucks each!
loving the cold and empty kinda feel to this house. very suitable as a house for machines. loving the simplicity of this project and the relationship between the cantilevered with the sloping site.
unbelievable, the architectural review is getting a brand new look. getting rid of the old serious image and moving into a more contemporary and relax kinda image is the way to be now! great job alexander boxill
OMA won the competition, however i though this is quite a impressive piece of architecture by NL Architects. Loving the simple concept with all the various punctuation of spaces and cantilevering. Seriously loving the exposed elevator, although i am not sure how its going to work in real life. It be interesting to see how gets build actually if they won the competition instead of OMA.
This is the highly anticipated full-length follow-up to "I Am a Bird Now". Here, Antony shifts the thematic focus and explores his relationship with the natural world. The intimacy of the Johnsons' sound is enveloped by avant-classical composer Nico Muhly's symphonic arrangements.
yves saint laurent presents an interesting high top sneaker as part of its spring/summer 2009 collection. The toe box looks similar to a moccasin or clark wallabee, while the rest of the sneaker looks like a classic premium high top sneaker. puma for YSL
was caught in the rain after visiting christian lacroix and decided to go ahead and sketch my vision for interior design as a contemporary art medium in singapore. i chose a piece among all the others simply because i think its rather impossible for us singaporeans to live in a box with so little openings and ventilations. therefore,i decided to pick that piece as my starting point and added some tropical architecture elements into it and call it BREATH! i stronly believe that it's our responsibility as a designer to help save the earth and to produce more energy efficient architecture. we should be more sensitive with our enviornment and not by just simply adding a air conditioning to every spce we design.
was really impressed by the way he does his sketches and how he actually execute his sketches into exact pieces. great exhibition with heaps to see and learn from. too bad i can't sew if not i would be sewing myself a costume for this year hallowen party.
went to republic poly by fumihiko maki last wednesday with my fellow colleagues for a site visit. anyway, i was really impressed by what he has done for our poly. one of the more remarkable building here in singapore for sure. his sense of proportion and use of material is world class.
my beloved companion bear sitting on my lovely murakami mouse pad posing for a picture for my blog. anyway i wonder if murakami will ever produce a bear with medicom?
another collaboration between jil sander for uniqlo. good to have you back jil! anyway, i wonder if her collection is going to be the opening collection for uniqlo singapore opening next month in the new tampines mall.
unbelievable a bar created solely on cardboard boxes and a hot glue gun! cardboard bar in london design festival, how exciting!!! this is so so exciting! i would gladly do this for free for anyone who wants to build a cardboard bar!!!
i am loving mcqueen's latest collection! using coke cans as wig how ingenious with a powerful statement, GO GREEN! very typical mcqueen silhouette and material but the make up this season took my breath away. way to go mcqueen
i'm always fascinated with paper architecture ever since i was exposed to shigeru ban's paper house. it's great seeing fellow designers taking paper as a material more seiously and pushing the limit of the material.
Skidmore, Owings & Merrill:The world's tallest building, the world's greenest high-rise, and dozens of other superlatives make SOM a massive -- and dynamically creative -- commercial force.
Herzog & de Meuron:The Beijing Olympics made this firm's "Birds' Nest" stadium an instant icon; its "Hanging Gardens of Babylon" design for the Miami Art Museum shows range.
Zaha Hadid: A sexy little pop-up pavilion for Chanel. An ice-sculpture-like design for the Nordpark Cable Railway. A trippy design for the Guggenheim Hermitage in Vilnius. Hadid's work is consistently jaw-dropping.
Rem Koolhaas's OMA: You have to love a guy who can design both a giant headquarters building for China's CCTV and catwalks for Prada.
Steven Holl: His "Linked Hybrid" complex in Beijing, which opened last fall, shows genius and technological virtuosity. Even Holl's smaller projects -- say, Kansas City's Nelson Atkins Museum of Art -- can be breathtaking in their simple majesty.
Foster + Partners: A double-decker bus for London, an ethereal bridge in France, and the world's most advanced airport terminal in Beijing show the range and global fluency of this British stalwart.
Renzo Piano: The firm's plan for the California Academy of Sciences, with its undulating roof, is a triumph of green design. Another contribution: The New York Times' new headquarters, which the paper is hoping to mortgage for a $400 million spring debt payment.
Christian de Portzamparc: Little known in the U.S. outside architecture devotees, de Portzamparc is notable for the LVMH Tower in New York and the breathtaking concert hall for the Luxembourg Philharmonic. His design for the opera house in Rio de Janeiro will be an instant landmark.
KieranTimberlake: The firm's "Cellophane House" was the hit of MoMA's prefab home show last summer.
Olsen Sundberg Kundig Allen: This Seattle firm boasts a dossier of important public buildings, but what we love most: a skillful hand with -residences framing sub-lime natural vistas.
taipei east area, invincible store that carries all original fake product. just happen to visit them a month ago and bought a couple of stuff from them. rather minimize and cool store. anyway, just some picture of people queuing for the kaws companion bear in taipei that i got from my bro-in-law who happen to stay in taipei.
always into the concept of architecture in a stroke. just found another good example of architecture in a stroke. the designer uses a line of steel to invades the yard and buildings to become a school playground and thread architecture. and the steel is painted in my favorite color too!
